About

Filmmakers United was created to help independent filmmakers understand one of the most overlooked parts of the industry: what happens after the movie is finished. Most filmmakers spend years learning how to write, direct, shoot, and edit a film. Very few are taught how to prepare a project for festivals, buyers, sales agents, or distribution opportunities.

After years of acting in independent and studio-backed productions—and later producing and selling my own films—I realized how difficult it was to find practical, straightforward information about film deliverables and distribution readiness. Filmmakers United exists to make that information more accessible for the next generation of filmmakers.

Why Filmmakers United Exists

There’s a gap in filmmaking education.

Most resources focus heavily on writing, directing, and production—but barely touch on what happens after your film is finished. And when they do, the information is often vague, outdated, or overly complicated.

I created Filmmakers United because I ran into that exact problem myself.

Like most filmmakers, I spent years focused on making films—writing, shooting, editing—believing that finishing the project was the finish line. It’s not.

When it came time to actually deliver a film and navigate distribution, I realized how much I didn’t know—and how difficult it was to find clear, practical answers without paying a lot of money or already having industry connections.

Filmmakers United was built to solve that problem.

No fluff. No gatekeeping. No pretending this industry is easier than it is. Filmmaking is difficult. Breaking in is difficult. Understanding how the business side works shouldn't be. Filmmakers United is focused on practical information filmmakers can actually use—helping them avoid common mistakes, make better decisions, and better prepare their projects for real opportunities.

Our Approach

The Mission

Mason Mac

I've always admired people who create things. The filmmakers who spend years writing scripts nobody asked for. The producers who risk their savings to tell a story they believe in. The actors who keep showing up despite rejection. The artists who keep creating when common sense tells them to quit. Those are my people.

Filmmakers United exists for the builders, the dreamers, and the stubborn creatives who refuse to give up on their projects. My hope is that the resources we create help make the journey a little less confusing and a little more achievable. Because making a film is hard enough. Finding trustworthy information shouldn't be.
